Rishi Sugla

AAAS Mass Media Fellow and Yale Public Voices Fellow
Rishi Sugla is a AAAS Mass Media fellow with Ensia. A community organizer, science communicator and Ph.D. student at Scripps Institution of Oceanography in San Diego, California, he studies long-term changes to Earth’s climatic system and their effects on the evolution of life. He co-founded the Center for Interdisciplinary Environmental Justice (CIEJ), an organization dedicated to conducting solidarity science in support of Indigenous land sovereignty and is an inaugural Yale Public Voices of the Climate Crisis fellow. He has contributed to two documentaries, one addressing the impacts of renewable energy technologies on Indigenous communities in Chile and Argentina and the other exploring one of the most inaccessible volcanic island arcs in the world. He is now leading efforts to establish a Marine Protected Area in that region.
