February 11, 2013 — Peter Williams was living an architect’s dream, designing intellectually stimulating and creative projects in the U.S., the United Arab Emirates and Asia, when a life-altering trip to South Africa combined with an experience from childhood made him change direction and look at building in a new way. Seeing how central homes are to people’s health around the world, in 2006 he founded Architecture for Health in Vulnerable Environments, an international charity with the mission to use one basic need—housing—to deliver one basic right—health. Since then, ARCHIVE has worked toward that mission in Haiti, the U.K., Cameroon, Ethiopia, Nepal and elsewhere.
