Mark J. Hanson, Ph.D., teaches courses in ethics and the humanities at the University of Montana in Missoula. He was previously Associate for Ethics & Society at The Hastings Center, a bioethics research institute. His writing addresses various areas related to ethics and society, with a particular emphasis on environmental issues. He is exploring how humanity can overcome its destructive tendencies and mitigate climate change and protect wild places.
