December 18, 2014 — When you think of the Tea Party, the first thing that comes to mind probably isn’t renewable energy. Debbie Dooley, national coordinator of the Tea Party Patriots and founder of the Green Tea Coalition, is out to change that. She’s shaking up politics — and politicians — from the Deep South to D.C. with calls for “energy freedom” and more distributed solar power. Ensia recently caught up with Dooley at her home outside Atlanta.
How about another video or written presentation giving a more detailed explanation on Energy freedom, choice, competition, national security and innovation. In addition to this, it would be nice to address training for people losing jobs as energy is transitioning to cleaner forms. I am not a conservative, but whenever I listen to someone addressing environmental issues, I ask them, "What about all the people who will lose their jobs?" In our rapidly changing world, technology is doing amazing things, but if people lose jobs because of this what can we do to help them be productive in a constructive way or to train them for the changing economy?
