Living things, Sagarin points out, are remarkably good at adapting to new circumstances. How do they do it? He points to four key strategies for dealing with risk and uncertainty we humans would do well to keep in mind as we get ready for a future shaped by climate change: Be decentralized, have redundant parts, form symbiotic networks and build from success rather than from failure.
